Brenda Hart

Brenda, Hard at Work (almost)

Artist Statement :
I sometimes believe I became a still life painter, because I really love food. Juicy fruits, colorful vegetables, glasses of wine, I adore all of these earthly gastronomical pleasures, so it is only natural that I am moved to paint them. One of my other great loves in life is foreign travel, the more exotic the better. My still lifes are often filled with objects I drag home with me from far away places. I have made a point to continually study art and improve my skill level. I have chosen mostly independent study with teachers that I admire greatly and have always found this path to be very inspirational. I’ll always remember what one of my very favorite teachers once told me after a frustrating day of painting and he used Rembrandt as an example, when he declared “Brenda, you need to keep painting until your worst is good enough”
Artist Bio
Brenda Hart was born and raised in central Illinois. Being somewhat of an adventure seeker she went to work in a coal mine for several years in her early twenties. Shortly after leaving the mine, she traveled to South America and fell in love with Peru. She then formed Wanderlust Imports and began trading in various handicrafts. After more than 20 years as an importer, Brenda decided to turn the business over to someone else and pursue a new career as a painter. Something she always dreamed of doing. Currently she is painting still lifes, murals and teaching art and still works with artisans in Peru. She resides in Boulder, Colorado
